December Math Goals
We have just added dimes to counting money. I encourage families to practice counting real coins at home. The kids are getting really good at this skill!
We are also practicing the "tens" facts (combinations that make 10)
This week we will be focusing on measurement and reading thermometers.

December POA
The POA testing for December has begun! I have been testing students on letter identification, word identification, and the dictated sentence this week. On Wednesday, December 7th, I will be taking the day to assess the students' reading levels. You can expect a report of the results in your child's Friday folder by the end of December.
Update on December Holiday Traditions Celebration
Dear Families,
On Thursday, December 22nd the kindergarten through 2nd grade classes will be participating in our first December Holiday Traditions celebration. The children will have the opportunity to learn about other countries and how they celebrate winter holidays.
Our format will be similar to the Fall Festival event that happened on October 31st. Each child will experience two of the events with a snack in the middle. Our snack will be provided by various high school classes that are eager to help us out and learn about foods from different countries.
We are looking for parent volunteers to help make this day a success. We need parents to lead activities and assist in activities. If you are able to help us out on the 22nd, please indicate so below.
Also, during the afternoon of the 22nd, the kindergarten through 2nd grade classes will be watching a movie together in the auditorium. The children are welcome to wear pajamas and bring pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals on this day.
